We believe every child should have something to eat.
Hunger is harmful for kids, affecting learning, growth and overall health. In fact, kids who don’t have proper nutrition are twice as likely to repeat a grade level and need special education. And hungry kids are three times more likely to suffer from poor health.
Here in Allegheny County, one in six kids is hungry. In total, from every suburb and every corner of the city, 42,000 local children lack access to enough food for a healthy life. We believe we need to fix this.
