18 May Viewpoint: Investing early in Allegheny County
Pittsburgh Business Times —Without access to affordable, high-quality early learning, too many children will enter school already behind in the game. As Allegheny County business leaders and members of the Pennsylvania Early Learning Investment Commission, we support Gov. Tom Wolf’s proposed increases in the 2018-19 state budget of $40 million for pre-k, $27 million for high-quality child care, and $6.5 million to expand evidence-based home visiting programs. Investments in high-quality prekindergarten today help fill the talent pool of tomorrow with bright, capable young citizens ready to contribute to a thriving economy.
